21. What is the value of p?

(1) – I p I = -2
(2) p^2 – 4 = 0

I got that (2) is insufficient but I do not know why (1) is insufficient

(1) is insufficient since p could be 2 or -2.

(2) is insufficient.

Both combined are insufficient. So the answer is E.
