The question can be rephrased as (r+s)/2, since the denominator is the same. So, ultimately we need to find out either r and s individually or (r+s) as a value. This can be arrived without looking at the statements. Statement 1 and Statement 2 both give the value of (r+s) alone. So, answer is D.
