SOLUTION

What is the value of r/2 + s/2 ?

$$\frac{r}{2}+ \frac{s}{2}=\frac{r + s}{2}$$

(1) (r + s)/2 = 5 --> directly answers the question. Sufficient.

(2) r + s= 10 --> $$\frac{r + s}{2}=\frac{10}{2}=5$$. Sufficient.

Answer: D.

The question can be rephrased as (r+s)/2, since the denominator is the same. So, ultimately we need to find out either r and s individually or (r+s) as a value.
This can be arrived without looking at the statements.
Statement 1 and Statement 2 both give the value of (r+s) alone. So, answer is D.
