11. What is the value of x?
(1) When x is multiplied by 8, the result is between 50 and 60.
(2) When x is doubled, the result is between 10 and 15.

Hi,

I go with E.

statement 1.) x could be 7 since 7*8 =56 which is between 50 & 60. But x could also be 7.1 or 7.2 but less than 7.5 since 7.5*8 =60 and we dont want that. INSUFF
statement 2.) x has to be greater than 5 it could be 6 when doubled yielding 12, similarly it could be 7 yielding 14. But again we cannot be sure, since these values could also be decimals similar to statement one. INSUFF.

Combining the 2 statements doesnt help either, I think.

The answer should be E ... because it's obvious that neither A nor B gives any valuable info

when we take both together also it still doesnot give any definite value

from 1) we get x lies between 50/8 and 60/8
i.e betweeen 6.25 and 7.5

2) we get x lies between 5 and 7.5

Since the question doesnot specify any thing about X it's difficult to predict about X ..... it could be any value between 6.25 and 7.5 .. SO E

P.S if the question said that X is an integer then C could be the answer as the 7 would be the answer .

1) 50 <= 8x <= 60 --> 25/4 <= x <= 15/2 --> 6.25 <= x <=7.5
Insufficient.

2) 10<=2x<=15 --> 5<=x<=7.5
Insufficient.

Using both will still not restrict x to one value.
