What is the value of x?

1) x^3-x=0
2) x^2-x=0

I realize the answer is E, but to clarify, if you have more than two answers on a value question will that ALWAYS be INSUFFICIENT?

from i, x could be +ve and -ve. 1 and -1, both, satisfy the equation.

from ii, x is positive. x^2=x is only possible if x=1.
therefore OA is B.

"E".

I. x(x2-1) = 0.....x = 0 or x = 1 or -1....insuff

II x(x-1) = 0....X = 0 or X = 1....insuff

Combine....

x3 -x = x2 -x

x2(x-1) = 0

x = 0 or 1...insuff

x could be zero too, MA.

Yes, if it is asking for a value, and we can't pin the value down to one exact value, than it would be insufficient.

Should be E as no unique answer even after combining the two.
