Q. What is the value of x ?

(1) -(x + y)= x- y

(2) x + y = 2

Sol: This is a DS Qs where we have to find a definite value of x.

Now, we don't have any data in Qs stem. So, we can skip that.

Going, quickly to St. 1.. -(x+y)=x-y---> Expanding the brackets the equation becomes-->

-x-y=x-yNow cancelling -y from both ends (or in other words adding +y on both sides), we get -x=x to give us finally 2x=0--> giving us x=0

As , we have a definite value of x , now St.1-->Suff--> Ans may be

ADSt.2 --> x+y=2.. now x and y can take diff. integral or fractional values (nothing mentioned in Qs stem ) . So, we can't figure out exact value of x.

Hence, St 2--> Insuff and ans

IMO is

A..

Hope this helps(if correct)

.

Thanks

Dj.
