What is the value of y?

(1) 3|x^2 – 4| = y – 2

(2) |3 – y| = 11

Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (2) alone is not sufficient.
Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) alone is not sufficient.
Both statements TOGETHER are sufficient, but NEITHER one ALONE is sufficient.
EACH statement ALONE is sufficient.
Statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are NOT sufficient.

1) tells us that y is positive (as 3* modulus is positive) and is greater than 2 (as y = 2 + positive value)
but one equaltion with 2 unknowns can not be solved. so not suff.

2) much straightforward : y can be -8 or 14
but 2 possible values so not suff.

Together
y is positive, so it must be 14
