What is the value of y?

(1) 3|x2 – 4| = y – 2

(2) |3 – y| = 11

From (1)

A definite value of Y can not be determined. For different values of x, y will have different values. But for any value of x, Y has a positive value.

From (2)

y can have two values -8 or 14. Thus no definite answer.

Combining (1) and (2)

Y will be +14

Thus C.
