What is x?

(1) |x| < 2

(2) |x| = 3x – 2

stat (1) has
x < 2
-x <2
x > -2

-2 < x < 2

could be any value

statement II:
x = 3x - 2 = -2x = -2 = x = 1
-x = 3x -2 = =- 4x = -2 = x = 1/2

insufficient.

both , insufficient.

be careful, x = 1/2 is not a root because -x = 3x-2 for negative x -> there is only one root x = 1 -> sufficient -> B
