Re: What is your opinion about Linkedin [#permalink]
Linkedin is quite good I would say. Some of the benefits I have seen with it are:
1) Recommendations that you cannot advertise in your CV are available for ready viewing on linkedin
2) People who have worked with me/know me/like working with me can give me a buzz if I fit a requirement in their company
3) And obviously all the benefits of social networking (actually more than that....keeping in touch with your old colleagues is one of the most difficult thing as job takes you all over the world and you cannot add your Director or VP on Facebook but can surely on linkedin).

My friend showed me how to use the search option productively. Just type "recruiter + <your profession>" and it will show up a list of companies and their HR recruiters.

I personally like it. It keeps you inspired at least...

Some of my acquaintances who went to INSEAD for example became very active on LinkedIn once they landed in France =)

I guess it does add a new dimension to networking...

I'd say the negatives just aren't really there.

LinkedIn is basically a resume + your connections. If there's anything on your resume that you don't want other people to see, it shouldn't be on your resume to begin with. Likewise for your connections.

Re: What is your opinion about Linkedin [#permalink]
Linked in is an excellent source if you have a vast network, which is something that you can build at bschool. I think past other social networking sites linked in has really tried to corner the market on working professionals rather than pictures from the bar with your mates. just my 2 cents

Re: What is your opinion about Linkedin [#permalink]
I have received many interview offers through LinkedIn. Recruiters seems to use LinkedIn a lot.
Whether you use it or not, I think it is good to create a profile and leave it on there. :)
Just like I use Facebook -- I don't log on to Facebook often, but I have a profile created anyway. :)

2 benefits:
1. Links your friends and acquaintances in your professional life. Can help in future job changes and career advice.
2. For searching jobs.
