So what's better?

Does the adcomm take into consideration that you only took the GMAT once?

I'm talking about top 10 schools.

Most schools take best-of scores. But I also seem to recall reading somewhere that the GMAT is accurate by about +/- 30 points from your first score. So if your second score isnt drastically different, I dont see the value add from it. Of course, a higher GMAT always helps, esp. if the application is a borderline case when GMAT might become the deciding factor.

Depends on your profile, if you are male Indian IT then probably as the average score for your demographic (top 10 schools) is something like 750.

On the other hand if you are a hill farmer from the Falkland Islands I wouldn't bother.
