What Schools could be a fit !! [#permalink] New post 21 Mar 2012, 09:48
I am returning to study GMAT again. I studied a bit 2.5 yrs ago then I got around 650, then stopped studying for other reasons.

Now, I want to get back to school after 4 yrs working experiences as an accounting director for a small company(total 10 employees)

My GPA is 2.2 - no doubt it will will a big obstacle to get into a great school.

I am also studying CPA exam.

My target school is, since I live in DC area, I want to attend to Georgetown University. Then, since I am from Ohio, I might want to move back to Ohio, thus,

Ohio State University is the one too. I know it will be even impossible or very challenging but Kellogg or Ross might be one that I want to attend as well.

Please let me know what part I should mainly focus on and the way I can increase a chance of getting in. Thanks

Well, the first obvious step is a very good GMAT. with a super high GMAT (lets assume for arguments sake 720+) almost every school can become reasonable to apply to even with a 2.2 (the big three will be tough though).

And the second step (this is where we come in :) ) is to write unbelievably, beautiful, intelligent, motivating, driven stories in your application.

Whether you get your CPA or not will be a bit less relevant to your MBA than the GMAT, so I would suggest focusing your energies on the GMAT first and your CPA, if you aren't in a rush, you can finish after you have completed all your application.
