What to do when u are not attending a school that accepted u [#permalink]
27 Dec 2012, 14:48
I applied to two good MBA programs, was accepted at both and have made my decision. What do I tell the other school? What is the professional way to decline an acceptance? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Isn't there an accept or decline form? Simply check the decline box and submit it. There doesn't have to be any pomp or circumstance or personal letters. Schools understand that not everyone will take their offer of admission so it's really not a big deal.

That's about it. You could also send a short email saying you are accepting your admission elsewhere and thanks...

Basically let them know that you are not coming. However, if you made a connection with an admissions officer, student or alumni, then you should write these people, thank them for their time and tell them what your plans are. Also, you should connect with them through Linkedin. If no connections made, then simply follow the school's process for not selecting their offer of admissions. Good luck. Just be polite and respectful, and don't beat yourself up over this, there are many candidates who apply to more than 1 school and then have to decline offers.
