What to expect at during the GMAT and after [#permalink]

Hi guys I have a couple of questions that I would be grateful if answered.
Here they are

1. I have the GMAC Review book and I went through most if not all of the questions. On the actual GMAT are there any repeat questions from the review books or are all the questions new in the sense that they were never seen?

2. If the questions are all new do they all follow the format of the GMAT review? (I know this is a stupid question but I still have to ask. I am a nervous type person and need to know)

3. Should I expect my score to go up by 10% or drop by 10%? Do people who take the exam see an average of an increase in their scores over test practice or a decrease?

Thanks.

1. All of the questions in the official GMAC review guides are retired questions. You will not see any of the questions in the books appear on the actual exam.

2. The questions won't necessarily quiz you on information you've never seen before, but they will probably force you to think about things / use the techniques you know in a different way. Some questions will be similar to what you've seen.

3. This completely depends on how well you perform under intense pressure. I'm guessing that you're asking about the GMATPrep software's scores versus the actual test scores. Check out this handy resource for a good gauge of where you are:

GMAC has admitted that there is a 30-point swing in most people's performances. That is, if you are testing at a 700, you could just as easily get a 680 as a 710. This is true for some test-takers, and untrue for others.

When's your test date? Which practice exams have you taken?

Best of luck!

No, the OG books contain only retired questions. But if you see any source that claims to contain real, un-retired problems, then avoid them like the plague. There was a huge scandal about this not too long ago.

The format and presentation are similar. But don't worry about that right now. The most important thing is to fully understand the concepts and practice with the OG.

The general consensus is that GMATPrep accurately predicts your actual performance within a 30 point range (both above and below). After the second practice test, though, the score may overestimate your performance.

I always assumed that my real score would drop. That way, I would study as much as possible to do well on the practice tests and stay mentally alert for the real test.

Along with YourDreamTheater's suggested link, check this one out as well for general reference:
