When do they reissue OG and Manhattan GMAT guides?

When do they reissue OG and Manhattan GMAT guides? [#permalink] New post 26 Apr 2010, 19:26
I looked for them on craiglist and was surprised that they cost the same as if I bought them from Amazon (which has new books at significant discounts). Is it because they usually print new ones around now? I plan to apply this fall to b schools and finish my GMAT hopefully by this summer..

should I wait a couple weeks or even months to purchase the new ones if that's the reason they're so heavily discounted on Amazon or would there be not much of a difference? I only plan to use these 2 brands only for sake of simplicity, and maybe flash cards to supplement. Thanks much.

:) Usually they issue one every 5 years or so.
4 more years to go :-D

Hi,

We've recently gone through several editions of MGMAT guides because we want to stay up to date with the OG guides:

The GMAC came out with their 12th edition last spring, so we moved from 3rd edition books to 4th edition books (you can see the differences here: http://www.manhattangmat.com/fourth-ed-info.cfm )

The GMAC then came out with 2nd edition guides for verbal and quant review in the fall, so we updated our books to the 4.1 edition this past winter. The only difference between the 4 and 4.1 is in which OG books they reference. The content is the same.

We're constantly responding to feedback and trying to create better guides, so we we are planning on updating our books again, but they shouldn't be out for about a year, so your best bet would be to get our 4.1 edition guides with the 12th edition OG and the 2nd edition OG quant and verbal review.

Forget Amazon. You'll have to worry about tax too if you live in a taxable area.

I don't know where you live but GMAT guides are very common on craiglist if you live in major cities. I'm surprised you can't find one.

Definitely try eBay though. I bought my Manhattan set for $80 (new and free shipping). Basically $50 off if ordered from Amazon (when you include tax). It took me about 3 days to find the listing and wait for the auction to end. A day later, I found a set of new Manhattan books plus new OG's for $100 (free shipping too). Wish I would've waited for that auction but I'm happy with my deal nonetheless. You can also try searching for separate MGMAT books on eBay too.

I know you need the books quickly but it's definitely worth a look.
