When to take GMAT exam for classes in Aug 2010 [#permalink]

Hi,
I am planning to join MBA in 2010. When should I appear for GMAT exam?
Also, I am looking for good GMAT coaching center in Bangalore.
Please help me out with the above queries.

I think you are a little late, unless you already have a plan as to which schools you want to apply, and when their application deadlines are. Most schools encourage to apply in early rounds, in fall that is, and in many cases you need your GMAT result before the application deadline.
So unless you want to apply only in later rounds in spring, I'd suggest you take the GMAT as soon as possible and begin to look at school applications.

Some will accept applications (usually third tier) as late as April and May. however, the majority of Top 20 schools will accept applications only through March for those in the US and Feb for those outside. If you can take your GMAT before the deadline (even if your scores will not be delivered to the school on the day of), you still should be OK. However, the main wave of GMAT is winding down as most apply for R1 and R2

Thanks for the reply. I need to gear up to take the exams soon. I gave CAT this time and felt that I could crack most of the questions. I hope preparations for CAT help me in GMAT.
