where can I find verbal practicing material? [#permalink] New post 23 Aug 2011, 05:27
I am not a native speaker. I have read the manhattan Sc, did a lot of practice. Before the test, I can get at least 35 on verbal at different free tests. I only get 22 on my test yesterday. I feel that the questions were different from what I had practiced. I don't know what else I can do. Do you guys have good opinions?

There are many question banks, but if you are not a native speaker, I suggest working on the fundamentals.

Read the GMAT Fiction thread
Buy the GMATGrammar Book Book
Buy comprehensive books covering all topics (such as Jeff Sackmann's GMAT Total Verbal). This also has a large question bank
Veritas also has some books covering specific topics and questions
MGMAT has question banks.

You might also check out Manhattan GMAT's new Foundations of Verbal Strategy Supplement. This book will help you cement your understanding of basic principles such as grammar, logic, and reading, while building core verbal skills for the GMAT. The purchase of this book also comes with Foundations of Verbal Practice Questions and a Foundations of Verbal Bonus Drill Set.

And for more difficult material, I advise looking into LSAT questions for LR (GMAT equivalent of CR) and RC. But these should only be attempted once you have exhausted other resources.

A score of 22V, however, cannot be corrected solely by massive amounts of question practice. So before you dive into all sorts of problems sets, could you elaborate on your verbal preparation? I suspect that there is room for improvement in that area.
