Where do I stand a chance? [#permalink] New post 22 Jul 2008, 06:26
Hi All,

I appeared in the GMAT yesterday and got a score of 710. I was disappointed as I was expecting somewhere close to 730. However, that does not matter now.

Now about my profile. I am a Senior Technical Specialist in a big Indian IT service company with over $5bn turnover and have been in the company for the last 5 years. I am currently working in the telecom domain for the last 5 years with a telecom giant as my client. Other than that I was also involved in the consulting work for a big UK telecom company for an year at their location in UK.

The very reason that I want to do an MBA is to go into technical consulting.

So where do I stand a chance? I am not thinking of applying to ultra elite colleges as I am sure I do not stand a chance.

TIA,
Anupam

A 710 is a good score. Something that might hold you back is the competition among others that are coming from IT with your nationality and background. The breif description of yourself you provided didn't state anything about groups you oversaw, or leadership positions (in or out of the work place). You should be competitive at many of the schools Trans-Elite and maybe some Elite. You'll want to spend a lot of time on your applications to make sure you show yourself as a leader.

Please post this in a new thread because your post is not likely to be seen here. Also, it's not cool to hijack someone else's thread.
