Where do I start? [#permalink] New post 17 Nov 2004, 20:23
So I am a confused student who was headed towards law school, but might make a pit stop and get my masters at a program that is finance specific and doesn't look down upon a lack of work experience. So anyway, I just took my first GMAT cold and scored a 630. I guess it wasn't completely cold since many of the same skills apply to the LSAT, which I took last June. For the program I am looking at, I would probably need at least a 670ish to feel good, since it is the only school I would apply to. How reasonable a jump is this? What is the best way to prep, considering that I have a short amount of time and I don't want to spend money for a prep course. Basically, I would really appreciate any advice at all.

Hi Leviathan, it is possible to get from 630 to 670. Just make sure you have a copy of the OG and go through it in detail. Kaplan800 will also help you but remember that you have to go through every question in order to understand why you got each wrong AND right. I would suggest you to join the GMAT challenges in the next weeks; there is one given once every 2 weeks. Also, go through the explanations in the "best of verbal" forum as you will see much interesting discussions there. Participate in this forum as it will be your best bet at getting a good score.

PS. If you have not already done it, go through other people's experience in the "share your experience" section. There is much to learn from others' experiences. Good luck.
