Speculating that I am dinged from UVA and Cornell (although I interviewed at both), my choice comes down to Vanderbilt ($10K/year) and Rice ($30K/year). My post career goal is to work as a management consultant. I do not care so much as to where as long as it is in the South although California would be great! What is your take? Where do you suggest I attend. I could be happy at both schools during my time there as a student and am more concerned about career opportunities and salary once I graduate. Please could you give me some insight.
Thanks
Squali83,
Rice and Vandy are similar in median salaries offered to their MBAs (V: $87,500, R: $85,200). Vandy gets the nod in percentage of MBAs they send to the West Coast (12% vs. R: 4%). Rice gets the nod in percentage of MBAs who go into the consulting industry (12% vs. V: 9%). But where Rice really differentiates itself is in the number of consulting companies among its top recruiters (McKinsey, E&Y, Bearing Point, Kalypso) where I see only Deloitte among Vandy's top 15. That fact, coupled with the amount of money Rice is offering you, tells me you should go to Rice.
Good luck,
