just looking for advice on where i should start to study for the quantitative section? i've been out of school for years and havent studied this material since 03.

what type of game plan or study strategies should i follow? i get soo frustrated so quickly that i eventually give up and lose patience, i just feel soo lost.
should i start with number properties? and go from there?

i feel like i know some basic math concepts, but when i see the questions i get flustered and it looks soo foreign to me. the answer review comes to show i made a very simple question into a very difficult question.

any input would be great!

Hi,

Since you were out of tough so I will suggest you to go through Number Properties first!
I will suggest you to through Manhattan theory guides.
Go through the books in order.
Guide 1
Guide 2
Guide 3
Guide 4
Guide 5

Once you are done with one chapter then practice the questions either from grockit.com or gmatclub questions(you can find the gmat club tag's ling in my singature)
Once you are confident with a chapter then move on the other one
something like this
For i=1 to end
-> Study "chapter i"
-> go to grockit.com and schedule game for "chapter i" with difficulty level easy, If doing good then increase the difficulty to "medium" else go to next step
-> re-read the "chapter i" if you are doing bad
-> else goto next chapter and repeat the above steps.

Please a progress chart. Something like this:

Prepare a xls sheet (topic by topic).. and keep a track of your progress on a daily basis. Use color coding (Red,Orange,Green).
Red: You are weak in theory - brush up your concepts.
Orange - Done with theory but weak in application of the concepts
Green - Done with the topic

Hope it helps!
Good Luck!

wow i really appreciate the very thorough input! it is much appreciated!

i had a busy weekend so i didnt get to study as much as i would have liked, but i did check out grockit and i think i'm going to love it.

is it worth the $29.99/month or are there any discounts promotions you're aware of?

also,

i purchased the Manhattan GMAT Complete Strategy Guide Set, 5th Edition (Manhattan Gmat Strategy Guides: Instructional Guide) [Paperback]
is this what you were referring to??? i sure hope so. link to the purchase is below.

Am not sure about any discounts going on on grockit.com but you can buy a pack of gmatclub tests and grockit i guess. Or some other prep material + grockit membership. You need to have a check on google regarding the same.

Yes I was talking about the same manhattan guides. Good Luck!
