Hello All,
Below I'll provide a short description of my profile.I'd really love to know whether it would be better for me to apply in R3 or next year, given the kind of colleges I'm targeting.
I'm a bit bothered that I'm an Indian Male Engineer with experience in the Technology Consulting sphere(IT), which we all know is a very competitive segment. Also, something that i want to know if about the chances of me landing a scholarship.
GMAT score:710 (Q49 V38) IR 4(I'm a touch worried about my IR score)
Major responsibilities at work:
Working as an Oracle Business Intelligence consultant for over 50 months now. Major responsibilities include the following:
1)Involved in gathering business requirements from clients
2)Analyzing functional docs to design the data warehouse for reporting purposes
3)Developing the entire data model along with building specific reports as desired by the client
4)Fixing code defects as well as helping client fix issues that affect business reporting purposes
5) Lead team of resources and consolidate efforts of the entire team and report back to offshore management. Status reporting to client and onshore sr managers-SCRUM and standup calls
Major Accomplishments include:
1)Winner of highest award in the team category for helping in cost reduction to the company along with automation of processes which ended up in savings of close to 100 man hours in a quarter
2) For three weeks during critical activities in the project I was the only offshore employee. Had to don many hats right from offshore mgr to lead to programmer. Was the lone resource in night shift handling client issues and escalations in my very first project while being the junior most employee in the team
I am not able to reveal the Company's name due to strict privacy policy of the company. But i can tell you that it's an American MNC well respected in areas of Consulting.
Stood among top ten in class every year. With scores above 80% in X,XII and graduation. I've been able to maintain a consistent academic record all the time.
Non Academic work
Passionate about Football(Soccer).Captained the department team in the college league and was the primary driver of all football related activities in our department.
Helped raise funds for Technology Fest at college by going out and meeting sponsors, forming teams, setting up events and helping in the overall arrangements of the Fest.
Heavily involved in school exhibition.
Involved in Robotics -Won prizes as well along with being the driver of robotics related activities in our college
Extensively involved in research activities that went beyond my curriculum.Have a paper to my name at a reputed science journal as well
Involved in alternate energy and renewable energy work in college.
Summer Internship during college at a very well known British MNC
Post-MBA plans:
Right now since I work in the Consulting sphere I want to utilize all my learnings in this industry and post my MBA work in Management or Strategy Consulting so that I get to perform challenging client facing roles.
An MBA will help me to move my area of focus from being Technology centric to Management where I will be able to help clients solve their business problems.
My aim essentially will be to land a job at a consulting firm preferably from among the Big 4 in the US/Canada.
Essentially what I’m looking for in a b school is a fantastic track record in Consulting, capable of placing its students among the Big 4 and with a wide outreach globally along with a very strong and helpful Alumni network across the globe. Also, as with all MBAs it should provide tangible value for money with a good ROI.
Universities that I'm aiming for are as follows:
• Darden, UVA
• Stern, NYU
• Owen, Vanderbilt
• McDonough, Georgetown
• Kenan-Flagler(University of North Carolina)
• Simon,Rochester
• Goziueta,Emory
• Smeal, Penn State
• Krannert, Purdue
Fisher,Ohio State
It would be really helpful if you guys could provide an initial assessment and resolve my confusion a bit.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me in case you need any sort of information on my profile. Thanks in advance!!
Cheers,
