Which Maths marerial/book to refer ? [#permalink] New post 30 Sep 2008, 21:17
Hi,

I want to know wht is a good book to study for maths. i tried to read OG11, but was not satisfied with it. it is typical GMAT guide. They have not dealt with topic wise instead all questions are given at one place.

I need to brush up my basics first. i am expecting a book/meterial where each topic is discussed individually. after going thru that, i can jump to OG11.

I have seen the manhattan for maths for different topics. but i am not sure how are those books. If anyone has an idea of this book, pls let me know.

Thanks!

Samir.

Hi samirsingh. I'm currently brushing up on my math skills just like you are. I'm doing OG11 along with Kaplan 800. OG11 is good for practice and Kaplan 800 is quite challenging. Did you take a look at OG Quantitative Review? It has detailed explanation for each answer and it also provides basic math skills you need to succeed in Quant section of GMAT. If you still need more clarification on math foundation, I will try the Kaplan Premium. I think it has a little more explanation than the other two I mentioned plus it's got 6 exams (2 on the CD + 4 online).

Hi brandonslee, Thanks for the reply. Yes, i am using the OG-11.I also tried the Manhattan books. I read one of them, i found it helpful. So, i will continue with it.At the end they have mentioned all the questions related to that toipic in OG-11. So, you can go thru OG-11 questions as u go thru Manhattan books. I think that helps more.
