I would also vote for C,

because in the passage the opinion polls are given special attention with the word especially, and this is picked up in C again.

A - Incorrect. Out of Scope.
B - Incorrect. Out of Scope.
C - Correct. Less opinion polls.
D - Incorrect. Can be a possibility but we are talking of the television coverage.
E - Incorrect. How does it lessen the opinion polls.
