Which of the following equals the ratio of 3 \(\frac{1}{3}\)to 1 \(\frac{1}{3}\)?

3\(\frac{1}{3}\) = \(\frac{10}{3}\)
1 \(\frac{1}{3}\) = \(\frac{4}{3}\)
Required ratio = (10/3) / (4/3) = \(\frac{10}{4}\) = \(\frac{5}{2}\)
Answer C...

(A)1 : 3
(B)2 : 5
(C)5 : 2
(D)3 : 1
(E)40 : 9

Its a very simple question....
[m]3\frac{1}{3} = 10/3
1\frac{1}{3} = 4/3

Ratio = (10/3)/(4/3) = 5/2

Sorry guys but I miss the theoretical part of the problem. Why does NOT 3 1/3 to 1 1/3 simply mean 3*1/3 : 1*1/3 ? the result would then be different ... than C.

Because it's not \(3*\frac{1}{3}\) but rather a mixed fraction \(3 \frac{1}{3}\), which equals to \(3 \frac{1}{3}=\frac{10}{3}\).

Which of the following equals the ratio of \(3 \frac{1}{3}\) to \(1 \frac{1}{3}\)?

(A) 1:3
(B) 2:5
(C) 5:2
(D) 3:1
(E) 40:9

\(3 \frac{1}{3}=\frac{10}{3}\);

\(1 \frac{1}{3}=\frac{4}{3}\).

\(\frac{(\frac{10}{3})}{(\frac{4}{3})}=\frac{10}{3}*\frac{3}{4}=\frac{10}{4}=\frac{5}{2}\).

Answer: C.

Hope it'c clear.

The ratio of 3 1/3 to 1 1/3 is:

(3 1/3)/(1 1/3) = (10/3)/(4/3) = (10/3) x (¾) = 30/12 = 5/2 = 5 : 2
