(D) it is.

The 33 rpm record led to the disappearance of the 78 rpm version. The compact disk will in turn render the 33 rpm obsolete.

(A) - outside scope
(B) - outside scope
(C) - cannot comment on the effect of compacts disks on 78 rpm records
(E) - outside scope
