Which of the following is the most logical completion of the passage below?
Many companies have been pushing for a three-week extension of daylight saving time, which would mean that the sun would continue to set an hour later during the fall months. The owners of a chain of convenience stores, for example, expect to gain $15 million a year in additional sales, mostly from people who tend to______
(A) stay away from these stores after dark
(B) stay outdoors during the fall months
(C) spend more money in the fall
(D) spend less money in the fall
(E) shop at these stores when they are pressed for time

Well, I thought it's A at first. However now I choose D.
Maybe I don't clearly understand what "extension of daylight saving time" means. I think it's summer-time like time adjustment. If so, those who stay away stores after dark will not be affected b/c time-adjustment won't affect daylight.

Correct me if I am wrong.

Today sun sets at 6.00 pm. I finish work at 5.00 pm and come out and see that sun is there and so I shop.

If they change clock, sun will set at 5.00 pm. I finish work at 5.00 and see it is dark and I go home without shopping.

So people are pressing for daylight saving time to target people like me !!

"A". However, I don't think we will see similar kind of questions on GMAT as these questions require prior understanding of "daylight savings time".

Since GMAT is now a global standardized test, it can't afford to disadvantage people from other regions or countries.

I chose A in part because it specifically mentioned the stores in addition to addressing the sunset issue (dark), where the others were very general. Stay outdoors doing what? Spend money on what? (E) mentioned stores but did not address sunset.
