Which of the following lines is parallel to line x = 1.44 - 3*y

y = x/6 + 25
y = .48 - x/3
x/3 - y = 2
y + x/3 = 10
x/4 + 3 * y = 1

Please provide explaination

|| lines have same slope
the given equation has slope = -1/3

so A, C, E out...

B is the same equation as the given equation once you simplify... so B out

D has same slope and y-intersect is different. They will not xcross each other.

It is D.

to be || m1=m2 or in the general form a1/a2=b1/b2.

I was thinking there is something wrong with B. Now I understand, for 2 lines to be || their constants also need to be different. Good point!
