Which of the following most logically completes the argument?
Yorco and Zortech are two corporations that employ large numbers of full-time workers who are paid by the hour. Publicly available records indicate that Yorco employs roughly the same number of such hourly wage workers as Zortech does but spends a far higher total sum per year on wages for such workers. Therefore, hourly wages must be higher, on average, at Yorco than at Zortech, since _____.
A. Zortech spends a higher total sum per year than Yorco does to provide its hourly wage workers with benefits other than wages
B. the work performed by hourly wage workers at Zortech does not require a significantly higher level of skill than the work performed by hourly wage workers at Yorco does
C. the proportion of all company employees who are hourly wage workers is significantly greater at Yorco than it is at Zortech
D. overtime work, which is paid at a substantially higher rate than work done during the regular work week, is rare at both Yorco and Zortech
E. the highest hourly wages paid at Yorco are higher than the highest hourly wages paid at Zortech

Why not D? With b you are assuming higher skilled worker are paid more, well the company might be hiring them cheap.
D makes clear that diffrence is not because of overtime, so the wages are per se high.
Well, I could be wrong. Else explain your answer please.

D for sure.
Total sum = actual hours x hourly wage + overtime hours x hourly wage.

I think A is the correct answer. Passage says:
Total Wages of Yarco > Total wages at Zortech
Assume wages = hrly wage + added benefits
Now Zortech > Yarco (according to A) when it comes to benefits alone.
So hourly wages at Yarco have to be more so that the total can exceed that of Zortech.

I had D in mind before reading the answer.
same # of employees but hourly wages at 1 place than another. The required assumption is that both places have the same overtime hours

I will pick "E" on this:
IMHO,
Refering to last line of the stem, which goes like this " Therefore, hourly wages must be higher, on average, at Yorco than at Zortech, since _____."
Which says we need to provide evidence which will start with "SINCE" and support the conclusion "Therefore, hourly wages must be higher, on average, at yorko..."
E will give away this by saying highest hourly wages paid at Yorco are higher and therefore AVG is higher at Yorco.
Choice - "D" says "overtime work is rare at both the companies"
"Proportio of hourly wage workers" in choice "C" wont be helpful to support the conclusion related to AVG. HOURLY WAGE
"SKILL" of choice B and "other benefits" of choice A are out of scope here.
Whats the OA, friends ?

D for sure.
I think we all looked for choice like the total work hours at Yorco and Zortech are the same. D implicitly says that.

The problem with choice (B) is that it is not a sufficient condition to pay more to the employees who have better skills. There could be non monetary compensation to the skiiled employees.
