Which of the following most logically completes the argument?
Yorco and Zortech are two corporations that employ large numbers of full-time workers who are paid by the hour. Publicly available records indicate that Yorco employs roughly the same number of such hourly wage workers as Zortech does but spends a far higher total sum per year on wages for such workers. Therefore, hourly wages must be higher, on average, at Yorco than at Zortech, since _____.
A. Zortech spends a higher total sum per year than Yorco does to provide its hourly wage workers with benefits other than wages
B. the work performed by hourly wage workers at Zortech does not require a significantly higher level of skill than the work performed by hourly wage workers at Yorco does
C. the proportion of all company employees who are hourly wage workers is significantly greater at Yorco than it is at Zortech
D. overtime work, which is paid at a substantially higher rate than work done during the regular work week, is rare at both Yorco and Zortech
E. the highest hourly wages paid at Yorco are higher than the highest hourly wages paid at Zortech

I would say E... all other choices are out of scope
A benefits are not part of the argument
B don't know anything about the skills
C proportion is clearly stated in the argument "Yorco employs roughly the same number of such hourly wage workers"
D overtime is not discussed

E for me as well.
A is tempting, but the total expenses on wages is equal for both, not the total expenses in general. others are out of scope.

D
Total wages = Number of workers * hourly wages + wages by overtime
So if wages by the overtime are same( as said in D) and number of employees are same ( as said in argument) then certainly conclusion (that Yorco has higher hourly wages) will make sense.
IMO, E is wrong because if highest of Y is higher than that of Z but lowest of Y is also lower than that of Z and it won't guarantee the average hourly wage of Y greater than those of Z.
B is also tempting but nowhere in the argument its stated that higher skilled people get better wages, even though its true in real world.

Publicly available records indicate that Yorco employs roughly the same number of such hourly wage workers as Zortech does but spends a far higher total sum per year on wages for such workers. Therefore, hourly wages must be higher, on average, at Yorco than at Zortech, since _____.
A. Zortech spends a higher total sum per year than Yorco does to provide its hourly wage workers with benefits other than wages. it is, gives a alternate explanation why Yorco shluod pay more his workers...
B. the work performed by hourly wage workers at Zortech does not require a significantly higher level of skill than the work performed by hourly wage workers at Yorco does.. then does not explain conclusion
C. the proportion of all company employees who are hourly wage workers is significantly greater at Yorco than it is at Zortech even If we got higher proportion of hourly worker is stated in the passage that the number of hourly wage workers is the same, then out
D. overtime work, which is paid at a substantially higher rate than work done during the regular work week, is rare at both Yorco and Zortech does not help to explain our conclusion
E. the highest hourly wages paid at Yorco are higher than the highest hourly wages paid at Zortech if we got a higher standard deviation does not mean that we will have also a high average that culd be then lower

Will go with D.
If the overtime factor is taken out of the equation the conclusion that Yorco pays higher hourly wage than Zortech can be reasonalbly backed.

D.
I think a lot of people here are ignoring the word 'average' - that's the key.
