Which of the following most logically completes the editorial below?

Editorial in Golbindian Newspaper: For almost three months, opposition parties have been mounting daily street demonstrations in the capital in an effort to pressure the ruling party into calling an election. Though the demonstrations were well attended at first, attendance has declined steadily in recent weeks. However, the decline in attendance does not indicate that popular support for the opposition’s demands is dropping, since .

A. the opposition’s demands have not changed during the period when the
street demonstrations have been mounted.
B. No foreign governments have expressed any support for the opposition’s demands.
C. The state-controlled media have ceased any mention of the demonstrations, leaving many citizens outside the capital with no way of knowing that demonstrations continue.
D. There have not recently been any antigovernment demonstrations in cities other than the capital.
E. A recent sharp decrease in unemployment has led to increased popular
support for the government.

OA is C. But, I think C is clearly out of scope.

I think C is correct.

We have to show the reason that why there is decrease in attendence eventhough the popular support is unchanged.
C is doing exactly that.

But, the argument is talking about capital.
C is talking about citizens outside capital. So, I thought that it is out of scope.
Well, I was struggled between A and C and I agree that A is not clear.
But, if C can be aan answer, the argument should mention clearly whether participants are from entire country or from only capital.
I might guess too seriously. :?

A. the opposition’s demands have not changed during the period when the
street demonstrations have been mounted.
wrong, out of scope

B. No foreign governments have expressed any support for the opposition’s demands.
wrong, out of scope

>>>>>C. The state-controlled media have ceased any mention of the demonstrations, leaving many citizens outside the capital with no way of knowing that demonstrations continue.
correct. It says that because of poor media coverage, people didn't continue to attend to demonstration. So C provides an alternative reason to the declining attendance other than the declining support. That is the message of the editorial.

D. There have not recently been any antigovernment demonstrations in cities other than the capital.
wrong, out of scope

E. A recent sharp decrease in unemployment has led to increased popular
support for the government.
wrong, opposite

C is the choice here... it resolves the paradox that attendance dropped but popularity stayed the same

Clear winner C.

C provides an explanation for the decreasing attendance in the demonstrations. Hence the main reason is not declining interest but insufficient information.
