• Efficient in trade execution, tracking economic data and risk management

My first two and half years (part-time + full-time) were with a boutique investment banking firm focused on Private Equity and debt syndication and placement of funds. My job involved preparation of information memorandums & financial models for clients and presentation of these opportunities to investors. After that I moved to mid-sized broking firm to pursue security trading. I worked as a Trader in their capital markets division focusing on intra-day jobbing and arbitrage. My last job was with a multinational bank as an Assistant Trader on their Interest Rate Derivatives trading desk for two and half years.

Post MBA goals
Short term: Consulting (Financial Services division of a top tier firm)
Long term: Entrepreneurial

I have already applied to INSEAD (France / Singapore) and ISB (India). Please suggest other schools in Asia and United States that I could apply to. Are schools like INSEAD, LBS, Harvard and Stanford within my reach?

Do let me know if you need any further information to evaluate my profile.

Thank you for your support.

Hi there,

You have an impressive profile. Based on your profile and GMAT Score I would suggest you to target b shools like Columbia University, MIT Sloan, Duke, UCLA, Cornell Johnson, Darden, Michigan Ross, INSEAD, ISB, NUS and NTU as these b shools are good into consulting and finance.

The list of b schools you have mentioned above are good but based on your profile and GMAT Score I would say LBS and INSEAD you can apply and have fair chances where as HBS & Staford are a little stretch b schools for you.

For essays and analysis you may visit http://bit.ly/19Y6jKu. For interview tips visit http://bit.ly/1jxFgIK

Feel free to write if you have further queries.

Cheers!

Hey there,

You definitely have a good profile. You're not from the highest tier of undergrad institutions but you have a great professional background. Your GMAT score, however, is a little below average for your applicant pool so that'll a small anchor on your chances. I think your goals make sense - finance to consulting with a financial focus is realistic and high profile enough to make it worthwhile. However, they're still fairly generic so from a school selection perspective, you're now looking to softer factors. At the end of the day, you need pedigree to make the transition to a top tier firm so you're looking at top 10/15. However, given what I mentioned above, the very top will be stretches (H/S/W). I think you should throw in one application to one of those three but you should really focus in on the #4 - 14. You can create a pretty strong portfolio with a balance of risk while applying to quality institutions that'll help you get that job you want. If you're thinking about waiting to apply next year, then bumping up that GMAT would be a great idea!

Let me know if you want me to expand on anything I've written or if you have any other questions!
