While many of the constituents of the congresswoman believe her recent stance on the proposed rent-control statutes contradict her platform when she ran and that she should therefore not be reelected, the vast majority of those who voted for her in the previous election reported that they intended to do so in the next election.

B) her recent stance on the proposed rent-control statutes contradicts her running platform
C) her stance for the proposed rent-control statutes that she just announced contradicts her running platform

Needs to have "that". ABC are therefore ruled out. The only difference between D and E is recent vs latest. I'm not sure, but I think latest may be better, or "most recent".
So I'd pick (E).

I think I will also go for E. But I don't understand what does question wants to test between "latest" & "recent"

I prefer D.
we should use that after believe.
A,B,C are eliminated.
Between D, and E, I prefer recent to latest.

I picked D over E, but can someone explain why latest is a better choicce than recent? I am sure there is a grammatical explanation for this.
