Where did you pull this question? It doesn't seem like a "GMAT" question. This one is poorly worded. William Franklin's conviction couldn't be the royal governor of NJ, right? Also, it would help if you underlined the questionable portion of the sentence.

Between A and E, conviction needs to be compared to his father's conviction so need to use "like".IMO A

IMO A

Guys if there is no comma before for preferring will it make D correct. Some more inputs on why D is wrong would help.

For all those whu have put A as there Expected answers... Dont you think "not unlike" is a lil absurd ...what does it mean..??
