Official Explanation

From the outset, you can focus on fixing the human body's trying, an unattractive phrase on all counts. Eliminate (A), and you can take out (B) as well for making the phrase no better. Focusing on the final verb, you have that is harming or that harm. Since the subject is singular, eliminate (C) for containing the plural harm. When comparing (D) and (E), you can see that (D) adds an extra verb. The addition of to attempt is wordy and redundant; there's nothing expressed by to attempt that isn't already expressed by to try. That leaves (E).

I will try this one .....this SC is really a tricky one

Between A and B ... I will go with A ( "trying to defend" more idiomatic)

In B " body's trial to defend itself " would be better"

Help somebody/something to do something or with doing something is correct. We shouldn't use possessive forms (body's trying, body's tries) after 'help'.
A- body's trying sounds awkward
B - body's tries - also an incorrect form
C - correct
D - to attempt to try - wordy
E - present continous tense "is harming" is not appropriate

wanna add something here..
body's trying is a gerund noun.. so i think A could be the answer.. but what does "it" in A refer to??
"it" can not refer to body...
If "it" can not be assigned to anything then i'll select C for this question..
i mean it is not clear to me what to select at this point..i will select C in the test on the basis of unambiguous usage of "it" in A..

(A) body's trying to defend itself from a virus or disease that is harming it immune systems help the human body not its trying
(B) body's tries to defend itself from a virus or disease harming it immune system helps the "tries"... no it helps the human body not the tries
(C) body to try to defend itself from a virus or disease that harm it Incorrect- virus or disease singular, harm plural
(D) body to attempt to try to defend itself from a virus or disease that is harming it awkward infinitive construction
(E) body to try to defend itself from a virus or disease that is harming it CORRECT

IMO E. OA?

immune system helps human body makes sense rather than immune system helps human body's trying
hence left with C, D & E
C has wrongly used "harm" ; "harms" is correct
D is wordy

I go for E...

that clearly modify virus and disease. Verb is singular

(E) body to try to defend itself from a virus or disease that is harming it

E for me
A and B : it cannot refer to possessive pronoun
C : a virus or disease that harm - shouldn't it be harms?
D : redundant - attempt and try

Explanation:
A, B - the immune system helps the human body not tries. Thus, eliminate them.
C - "a virus or disease that harm it". SV errors, it must be "a virus or disease that harmS it. Eliminate.
D - "to attempt to try" - classic redundancy, eliminate.
E - is a good answer: Meaning - "helps body", SV - a virus or disease that is
