While they protect employees from …financial ruin, give customers
peace of mind, and encourage safety, corporate liability insurance
policies also provide cost certainty for companies that purchase it,
and, as an increasingly well-publicized perk, that make
it easier
for firms to recruit top personnel.

E. purchase it and, as an increasingly well-publicized perk,

Here's my question, I went with A under the assumption that we have a list that maintains parallelism in the following way:

"for companies that...X and... that Y"

Apparently the second "that" is extraneous and that is therefore incorrect. Is there something I'm missing here, are words such as "that" copied over in some way and therefore no longer needed?

I think this question is not about parallelism but about pronoun. First 'that' is pronoun for 'companies'. And as per sentence structure second 'that' is not not required.

If you score out the parenthetical content in each the choices, then you will see only E is structurally correct.

Whther it is correct to use 'it' .As for my view it is referring to 'corporate liability insurance policies '.

Correct me if i am wrong.

between A and E , i don't understand the placement of comma in E after 'and' .

ankitranjan also raised a valid question above.

, as an increasingly well-publicized perk, , it is describing the corporate liability insurance policies as an additional line which can be removed too without making much impact on the meaning of line.

how come it says "purchase it" and not "purchase them"? Doesn't the pronoun it refer to policies?

,and - represents two independent ideas. [When used without transition words]

There was great deal of traffic today, and I was late to work.

Both are independent.

If it is written as,

There was great deal of traffic today, and thus I was late to work [with transition word thus]

both are dependent.

That's d difference between A and E!. A=> two independent, where as E => dependent hence E!

Please out Thursdays with Ron Videos on AND and SC - Parallelism

The sentence construction is a little tricky;

corporate liability insurance policies also provide | cost certainty for companies that purchase it |
AND,
| an increasingly well-publicized perk,
THAT
| make it easier for firms to recruit top personnel

Purchase it: When all the choices contain a common error, perhaps we can ignore it and go for other errors; may be this is the weird logic that is the culpirit.

No way is "it" correct in this. Very poor question.

Also, obviously E if you have a native ear.

Here 'it' is referring to corporate policies (plural). Something wrong in this question.
