When you guys get invited to an interview and get a list of people to contact, what do you look for when deciding who to contact? Do you prefer same gender or opposite gender? Do you try to go with a recent grad or someone older? Is it inappropriate to try and schedule something for the weekend? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I always just try to figure out who I would be most comfortable with. Also, I know they say all interviews are weighted the same. This is something I am very skeptical of. If you totally blow away an Adcom member it will be more to your benefit than if you do the same with an alum or a second year. Also, if you are a reasonably attractive person who is very charming etc... I would suggest opposite sex for obvious reasons.

I personally prefer to interview with a female (I'm male). Almost every interviewer I've had has been fine, its just there are those few "macho" males who have to prove themself by trying to make the other person look stupid.
