not sure but I wud pick D (between D and E)as the answer.

Ok...here comes my reasoning part.
A,B,C : the use of words How,that and why doesn't sound apt.
Also ,"face painting and perfuming the body being found through out the historical evidences" are universal facts. Hence, they can be presented in simple present.
E : usage of 'body perfuming' doesn't sound right. Also, the subject is chagned from the acts of face painting etc to the persistance.
Again, not sure how right I'm.
