Please explain. I've seen this problem posted a couple of times in the forum but none of the answers are correct. Please explain the pronoun/antecedents to me. Thanks.

the subject "trent " needs singular verb so A and B are out. in C, infinitives are needed to be paralleled

Hi,

Lets make a split : A,B & C,D,E

One of X = Singular
One of X THAT/WHO ====== verb agrees in number with X ie the subject that preceeds THAT/WHO

Stem constn : One of X (Communities = Plural ) THAT ................. = Thus the verb that follows has to be PLURAL

So A,B = Singular IS = Eliminated

Of C,D,E :

D : Its Singular = Eliminated

E : ...................... Improving........... AND ................. Attract = Breaks parallelism

leading to C = Correct verb form ARE , Parallel ( Improve & Attract ) & usage of Looking to use is better.

I think its B...because its one of the communities more over we have to drop the "it" in the sentence as it has ambiguity in connecting with its antecendent... and B does that hence its B...can some one give the official answer and explanation

Yup. Even i marked it as B. :)

But "a large number of communities, that" here that refers to communities and not the place itself.

one of 'NOUN'(which is plural) + that/who + Verb(should always be plural) ...similarly in this case

is but one of a large number of communities that is looking

moreover to improve ...and attract is correct

so C
