Sentence has countable and Uncountable modifier issue
Population is uncountable thing – like 1 population, 2 population ect – so correct modifier is “less” – Eliminate C and E
breeding females is countable – eliminate B and D

(A) of less than 200 and fewer (Hold it)
(B) lower than 200 and less (breeding females is countable so eliminate it)
(C) lesser than 200 and fewer
(D) fewer than 200 and less (breeding females is countable so eliminate it)
(E) of fewer than 200 and of fewer

Answer: A

Its either A or C. I'm not sure which one to go with. Any comments - Why not C over A?

With a total polpulation of less than 200(There is no comparison here so it has to be less than) and fewer ( Fewer shoukd be used as comparison is done between breeding females of different periods) breeding females than ever before, the American crocodile seemed a decade ago to be in danger of disappearing.

A is correct for the above reason
