D for me
I think we need "older". A C E are out.

Why not B

IMO, B it is - D changes the meaning of the sentence as given

I would go for B

it was between B and D but D compare "the average of houses in UK" to "any of the military homes" which is not correct.

If possible, the best solution should match "average UK" vs "average US". B is better in that case.

The sentence indeed, compares english houses to any military homes ( look at original sentence) so answer is D.

D is my choice.

It should be either B or D as older is the correct word. In B "average military houses" doesn't make sense.
