I think the answer is (B). A is absurd because it is passive and also is not parallel. "Them" in C could refer to anyone making the construction unclear. E is passive and D is not parallel.

B is the best of the lot i agree.And it is the answer.
but isnt the phrase capturing their antics wrong.Shouldn't it be THUS capturing their antics or something along those lines

This is a typical modifier SC.

How about inverting the sentence in B:

Capturing their antics with just several quick strokes of the pen, the artist captured the antics of the monkeys.

It makes sense now???

I also picked B. However, capturing their antics is separated by a comma and is a dependent clause that cannot stand alone. any insights?
