I have heard you can go about 10% over. Anyone knows details? Is this school specific? I am applying to Harvard, Wharton and Kellogg

10% over is fine assuming that theres actually a reason you are going over. If you are going over because you haven't condensed your text, then edit first.

My friends at Harvard (damn them), all say they went a little over on a few essays.
