The most important thing to employers is passion and smarts. Sounds like you have both. I would not be daunted by the fact you don't have a business degree. Taking courses pertinent to your desired field is great--you might also want to consider visiting the business administration staff at your university to explain your change of plans and see if they might be helpful in getting you in front of the proper recruiters. If you can demonstrate your genuine interest in business and show some relevant coursework, you should have no problem landing a job as a financial analyst, which is a great feeder job for b-school. In truth, however, you can really do just about anything and get into b-school so long as it's interesting and demonstrates drive, innovation, leadership and passion. push yourself to do things both in and out of work that are beyond what you think you can do. B-schools like to see a bit of overachievement in their applicants and don't forget about a marked propensity for working in teams. Another way you could set your course would be to reverse engineer your career and think about where you want to be long term, then work your way backwards, thinking about how you would have gotten there in an ideal world. Hi, I had a similar experience coming out of undergrad with a B.A. in anthro and economics. I applied to a couple financial analyst positions, and landed on a valuation/litigation consulting position, where my research skills in anthropology played a major role in getting the job. Prior to graduation, I had also taken corporate finance and public finance courses to transition into business. During my interview, several of the questions asked where problem-saving, research-oriented questions (i.e., "how would you find information on company x if it's privately held?"). If you'd like to get into finance, I would suggest some self-study, know what an income statement and balance sheet looks like, and demonstrate your commitment to the transition.

It won't be easy. I spent the first 6 months working 80+ hour weeks to familiarize myself with finance and valuation. But what I found was that my anthro skills really helped after those first 6 months. For example, my writing skills were strong, and my approach to problem-solving was out of the box (honed through looking at situations through multiple lenses), so I was assigned to more complex projects.
