Work Experience- Bank Examiner [#permalink]
14 Feb 2013, 06:07
Im planning to apply to Mccombs (University of Texas) and Mays (Texas A&M) for fall 2014. I'll have about 5 years WE as a bank examiner by then. Does anyone have any insight as to how this type of WE is viewed by addmissions committees in general or at these two schools?

What's a bank examiner? Can you describe the type of work you do. Personally, I don't think any school has a bias for or against different jobs (as long as they are relevant). For examle, I don't think schools have a preference for marketers over bankers over consultants over pro athletes. It would be easier to say how your work experience might be viewed if you gave more details as to what exactly it is.

I would think that in this market where financial firms are continually under pressure, a unique perspective from somebody who has actually examined banks from a regulatory perspective would be a great addition to a school. In fact, I would say that this experience would separate you from the masses of candidates coming from finance who held more traditional jobs in the private sector. I would not enter the admissions process at all insecure about this experience, but very secure that it would be well received. Good luck Kimberly Plaga Senior Admissions Consultant Manhattan ReviewCall for a free candidacy assessment.
