b

4 machines can do the job in 6 days
1 machine can do the job in 24 days

1 machine can do 3 jobs in 72 days

72 days is 18 times more than 4 days

18 machines do 3 jobs in 4 days

For this question, we can work out the no. of units per day per machine.

4 machines, x units in 6 days ---> $$\frac{\frac{x}{6}}{4}$$ = $$\frac{x}{24}$$ unit-day per machine
Thus, with 3x units over 4 days ---> $$\frac{3x}{4}$$ divided by $$\frac{x}{24}$$ gives us 18 machines
