Dear All

Recently .. I was sharing some reviews of TOP GMAT scores , with a formal GMAT test taker and a faculty to one of the GMAT preparation classes in my city .

As per him.. It hardly matters , at what point of time you give the exam.. because whenever u r giving the exam.. u r practically competing against Asians only .. who r all good in quant .. so end of the day .. you only get advantage of being exceptional in verbal if you want to get a good score .

He proved his fact by stating time zone differences of few states in Canada and US ...

I am not debating on which subject ..i.e quant or verbal is important .. but would like to understand .. is it fine if i conclude that while giving the GMAT practically asians are competing with Asians only

Generally speaking, yes.

Most MBA programs have certain percentages allocated to different ethnicities and different professions.

Most schools publish these figures for future students and for the industry - and so schools are very careful about the mix of people in their MBA community. This is true for ethnicities, gender, industry sector, etc...

So if you applying to be part of a highly competitive portion of a school's demographic mix - then yes, you will be competing for other students from similar demographics. Take a look at this article about Quant vs Verbal and how verbal is more generally more important: http://www.gmatpill.com/the-gmat-pill-m ... -strategy/

Add in my comments above about allocated pools - and you'll recognize that verbal becomes that much more important for Asian males. It's a bit unfortunate - but it's a reality based on supply and demand for allocated pools.

Having said that, make the most of what you can. There are tools and resources for getting your score balanced and in the right zone to compete well.
