Worried about AWA [#permalink] New post 07 Dec 2007, 15:27
Hi. I just took a GMAT test and during AWA on Analysis of Issue i managed to use as one of the examples Iraq war. I claimed that the war was started because of Oil and that US had no respect for differences or for opinions of Iraqi people. I am worried now that adcom might look negative at this opinion and that will seriosly lower my chances of getting accepted.

(I didnt get the grade for my AWA yet)

Any comment is appreciated.

Thanks!

antihero,

Your opinion regarding the cause of the Iraqi War is not a controversial one, so you have no worries there. Your second opinion sounds a little overgeneralized and intemperate and if your writing sample is expressed in such a tone, it's possible an adcom could take exception to it (as they would to someone who got controversial in an application essay). But generally these writing samples are not given very much weight at all, so unless you came across as a ranting nutball in your sample you shouldn't be too worried.

Good luck,
