Worth it? $100K at Mendoza (ND) or $50K at Kelley (IU) [#permalink] New post 01 Dec 2009, 07:41
Ive been looking for some debating on here. While here in Indiana I am trying to debate the 2-3 good b-schools Mendoza, Kelley, and Krannert.

My question is - it looks like Kelley/IU is about half the cost of Mendoza/ND, Kelley ranks a bit higher than Mendoza in the USN and BW rankings, but I cant quit thinking that "Notre Dame is Notre Dame". It could be my lack of knowledge from the higher ups, but it seems like ND's name and alumni pool would hold more weight than Kelley's, am I off base???...

Anyone out there have an opinion or thought based on similar schools/situations.

You should try to research the schools and see if your post-MBA goal aligns with the school’s strength. Sure ND does have a stronger reputation in general, but the reputation among the recruiters is what really matter. After all, the recruiters are the ones that will be offering you the jobs.

With all things equal, I would go with Kelley because of the better MBA reputation and a cheaper tuition. However, if in doubt, I would apply for all three and see what the financial aid package is like. ND may offer you more money to offset the higher tuition cost.
