Would Appreciate any help!! [#permalink] New post 09 Apr 2008, 13:28
I have started my GMAT Prep a week back.. I would appreciate suggestions and tips for my next steps as I am planning to give GMAT on JULY 21st, 2008.

Initially I have been solving questions from OG and planning top start KAPLAN or MANHATTAN classes..

Questions:

1. What would be an idol duration for classes? 1 or 2 Months... It seems KAPLAN have been providing 1 and 2 months course... Plz suggest??

2. KAPLAN or MANHATTAN?

3. The class should start immediately once you start GMAT prep... Because I am planning to start KAPLAN from 28th of this month, therefore I make my concepts clear and solve OG questions before taking classes as I have been out of school for around 2 years.

4. Which books would be recommended?

5. Any other suggestions welcome..

I took Manhattan, and it was pretty good. I think you can get more out of the class if you study for a couple of months first. But if you want to feel like your part of a group of people who are taking the GMAT for the first time, it is a great way to engage with other people and instructors. I personally looking back on it do not think it is worth the grand I paid, but I believe that it got me on the right track in terms of frame of mind. So depending on if you have a grand to throw around, it would be an ok, but not great course.

Definitely Manhattan for either class or just books.

As someone who did Kaplan, I recommend you use another prep service such as Veritas or Manhattan. Kaplan just isn't geared towards those who want 700+.

As for books though, I recommend the Manhattan series (esp Sentence Correction) and Kaplan 800. Also, definitely try to do the GMAT challenges- nothing will prepare you for a superstar quant score like the challenges. Lastly, be sure to do 5-6 GMAT Preps.
