Would someone be kind enough to summarize for me the main types of problems related to work/rate. I am weak in these areas and I am trying to concentrate on these types of questions, but am unable to find consalidated information.

Well, the work/rate questions are very similar to the distance/time/speed questions except that the units are different. This is the most tricky part. It really screws up my mind when I first encountered this question.
An example would be like this:
Worker A takes 8 hrs to do a job and worker B takes 10 hours. How long should it take A and B working together to do one job.
Comparing the units to the speed theory:
1 job= amount of distance
8 hrs/10 hrs= amount of time
job/hr= km/meters per hr
the theory of speed is speed= distance/time
worker A's speed is: 1/8 jobs/hr
B is : 1/10 jobs/hr
The theory of time is: time= distance/speed
So the solution for this would be one job divided by total job/hr of A and B equals total time for A and B working together:
Total time: 1/ 1/10 + 1/8= 4 and 4/9 hrs
